My first day of attachment begins at the KL high court on 16/5, at 8.30am. My supervisor told me to meet him there as he was handling a divorce case. When I reach there there was a big crowd. They were shouting: "hidup anwar!! bebas anwar!!" Yup you guess it, the decision on whether anwar case should enter defence was given that day. (the famous sodomy trial)
Putting that aside, I joined my supervisor at the entrance and he brought me around the High court. We went to the family court and I witnessed many divorce cases. It was sad for me because there are like 40 divorce cases per day. My supervisor handled his case well. It was a joint petition(where both parties agree to divorce). The interesting part came when his client(a lady) came and told him that she wants to get the divorce immediately because she is pregnant.
My supervisor was surprised but he managed to persuade the judge to shorten the time to 1 month before the divorce became absolute. (Usually it takes 3 months for a divorce to be absolute but if the court allows it, it can be shorten.) He told me later that he know the lady judge quite well and he knew she would grant him the said 1 month. That was when I started to admire him. He seems to know every lawyer around and he is such a friendly lawyer.
After that I came back to the law firm situated near Petaling Street and started doing some legal work. I ended my work at 6.30pm. It was really tiring that day but I learnt a lot! =)
P.S. Sorry peeps only 1 pic. Will try to put more pics when I have them.
